Summary
When many Jews left Europe to go to Israel, the Arab League was formed to protest the Balfour Declaration. Jews started a Zionist movement to get their homeland and the Brits handed the problem to the UN in 1947. The UN suggested a partition so the Jews had their own country (Israel) but the Arabs were angry because Israel split up many Arab regions. The Jews won (which seemed unlikely) and forced Arabs to retreat, and Israel increased its territory. Which resulted in Jews & Palestinians beginning a major conflict that continues for almost 50 years.
