Motives of the Big Three
Woodrow Wilson
Wilson led the American Delegation with his famous 14 Points. Although he was unable to convince his own Nation to join the League of Nations which later failed. Woodrow Wilson wanted Germany to rebuild as a democratic society. He also believed in Self Determination for many European countries. George Clemenceau Clemenceau led the French Delegation. He wanted to completely dismember Germany. He believed France had been weakened and the favor should be repaid to Germany. He wanted to ensure they could not start another war. He also wanted severe War reparations paid. Clemenceau also had an issue with Wilson's 14 points. David Lloyd George Lloyd George led the British Delegation. He was the median between the two extreme ideas of Wilson and Clemenceau. He also wanted reparations, although not as severe. He wanted to expand the British Empire overseas. |
